THE WORK

At Kaipaki berries we normally pick between November and May, peaking in December. Throughout the year we are busy planting, growing, and monitoring the crops while also maintaining our farm infrastructure. In the off-season we are busy planning for the next crop and working on various project to improve the farm.

Some farm work can be quite physical but it’s extremely rewarding. A number of tasks involve manual work including lifting, bending and twisting so workers need to be fit and healthy as well as have a positive attitude. Most of the work is undertaken in supervised teams or groups.

Our polytunnels also create a more pleasant working environment. Being undercover protects our workers from the elements and we grow on tables so we don’t have work at ground-level

Working at Kaipaki Berries is a great opportunity for people wanting to enter a growing industry and develop their skills. We offer support and development, with a strong emphasis on providing positive working environment.
